Pianist Diana Fanning to Perform at Stone Church Cultural Center on November 1
Vermont artist returns with a program of Beethoven, Janáček, Debussy, and Chopin
Vermont pianist Diana Fanning returns to Stone Church Cultural Center on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM, for a solo recital featuring Czech-composer Leoš Janáček’s On an Overgrown Path, alongside beloved works by Beethoven, Debussy, and Chopin.
Tickets are $30 and available online here or at the box office, the day of the concert. Holders of the Massachusetts Card to Culture, a program of the Mass Cultural Council, are entitled to request up to two free tickets at the box office. Contact events@FriendsoftheStoneChurch.org for more information.
The program includes:
Ludwig van Beethoven: Six Variations in F Major, Op. 34
Leoš Janáček: Po zarostlém chodníčku (On an Overgrown Path)
Claude Debussy: Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l’air du soir (Sounds and perfumes swirl in the evening air) and Minstrels
Frédéric Chopin: Sonata in B Minor, Op. 58
Fanning has performed across the United States and Europe, including at Schloss Leopoldskron, the Salzburg castle made famous by The Sound of Music, and in Prague at the invitation of the International Dvořák Society. After a solo recital in Munich, a critic wrote that she “stunned her listeners with the rich spectrum of subtle colors and tonal nuances she revealed.”
Vermont audiences know her well. She has appeared many times with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 at the debut concert of the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra, and returned for Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. She is a frequent guest on Vermont Public Radio and has also been heard on WGBH-FM in Boston and WNYC in New York. Her CD of works by Janáček, Chopin and Debussy received enthusiastic reviews in England and the United States. She is an Affiliate Artist at Middlebury College.
A reception will follow the concert. All are invited.
All Concerts at the Stone Church are free to those under 18.
