Preservation Massachusetts of Plymouth, MA announced this week that Friends of the Stone Church will receive a $10,000 grant funded by the 1772 Foundation for repairs to the roof of the Stone Church Cultural Center. The project was one of only eight to receive this amount, and one of sixteen to receive an award. Preservation Massachusetts is the statewide non-profit historic preservation organization dedicated to preserving the Commonwealth’s historic and cultural heritage. Judy Edington, FOSC President commented, “We are honored that Friends of the Stone Church has received this grant to further our preservation efforts and to be recognized alongside other significant preservation projects across the Commonwealth. We will work to raise matching funds to complete the needed roof repairs this summer.”
Since 2020, Preservation Massachusetts has worked in partnership with The 1772 Foundation to develop and administer grant funding for historic buildings in Massachusetts. The Historic Preservation Matching Grant Program is a 1:1 matching grant for exterior work on historic properties owned or leased by non-profit organizations. $125,000 was made available for the 2023 grant round.
